Installers and Their Help Files

Monday, October 31st, 2005

So I needed to install the driver for my scanner today so my image editing app would see it and allow me to scan things in. The scanner driver package installed EXACTLY 1,753 files (yes you read that correctly) and EXACTLY 1,752 of them were HTML help files and/or their associated images.
That’s just like, wrong, […]

This has got to be one of the funniest Halloween comics I’ve read in the last few years.

Freedom Of Speech Week = PRONZORZ!

Monday, October 31st, 2005

US San Diego is trying to crack down on what people can show on it’s student-run television. To celebrate Freedom of Speech Week they aired their own little home movie.
The broadcast of pornography on a student-run television station at UC San Diego may be short-lived.
Just three days after the broadcast of sex between a UCSD […]

Sunday, October 30th, 2005

Richard E. Smalley has died.
Nobel laureate Richard E. Smalley, one of the co-discoverers of “buckyballs” and other fullerenes, died on Friday after years of intermittent struggle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Those of us who had a chance to work with him over the years, however briefly, are left saddened; he seemed like a good man. […]

So I’m at a stop light in the turn bay. Next to me is one of those guys with one of those cars that has about 400 lbs of crap bolted onto it, 26 lbs of paint and stickers $300 of neon lights underneath and about $10,000 worth of stereo equipment inside making the rear […]

Cell Phone SpeakerPhones

Friday, October 28th, 2005

Ok quit with the speaker phones on your cell phones. No one cares about your conversation.
What benefit is a speakerphone on a cell phone anyway? Somehow moving the phone’s speaker further away from your ear helps you hear it? What, you think it’s just that much safer to keep the phone 4 inches from your […]

The Numbers

Tuesday, October 25th, 2005

Guess how many US troops are now dead in Iraq.
This site reports the number one higher.
Remember that war in Afghanistan? Well it’s still going on and it’s number is only about 92.
In other news, the Iraq constitution was approved and Rosa Parks died. Bush is talking to the wives of our troops at the […]
